Do You Even Need a Newsletter?

For the typical business owner, trying to maintain a website can be a challenge. And crafting a newsletter on a consistent basis can be daunting. You want to spend your time doing what you do best, not stuck behind a computer for hours at a time. Many times, implementing an email marketing campaign gets pushed to the back burner. But regularly sending a newsletter to your audience and potential customers can be an integral part of building your brand and bottom line.

If you have an active audience, even if it doesn’t number in the tens of thousands, then it would definitely pay to send a newsletter. And although you may not see growth overnight, it will be worth it down the line. It’s all a part of providing something valuable to your audience and building your brand as well.

What do I put in my newsletter? This is really up to you. It can be as short or as long as you want. If you have a lot of content, you may want to feature your most popular posts. If you have an upcoming event, you’ll want to feature that also.

How often do I send a newsletter? Again, this is up to you and depends on your audience. Some large websites send newsletters daily. Weekly newsletters can also be good because you can communicate with your audience and not overwhelm them. It may be good to give subscribers a choice of receiving a daily or a weekly newsletter when they sign up. Providing options are always good.

Are there newsletter templates out there that I can use? Yes! Constant Contact, Mail Chimp and Campaigner are very widely used and are affordable. Infusion Soft is another service that costs a tad bit more but gives you many more ways to communicate with your subscribers.
